The new Lord Mayor of Bradford Coun Robin Owens will be installed at a ceremony at City Hall on Tuesday.
Councillor Robin Owens and his wife Janet will succeed Choudhary Rangzeb and his wife Zahida as Lord Mayor of Bradford.
Coun Owens served as Deputy Lord Mayor of Bradford two years ago.
He said: "I am absolutely delighted to be the next Lord Mayor. My wife Janet and I are looking forward to a really positive and inclusive year.
"We met so many great people during our year as deputies and we shall enjoy renewing acquaintances and making new friends."
Coun Owens has lived in the Bradford district for more than 30 years after moving to Keighley to work as deputy headteacher of Oakbank Grammar School. He has represented the Bingley ward since 1999.
During 2007 the Council also celebrates the 100th anniversary of the granting of the Lord Mayoralty from the Crown.
