Rail chiefs have enlisted a Bradford band to drive home the message that railway lines are not safe places to play.
Following the success of NorthrenTraX 2006, Northern Rail is to re-run its award-winning music-based rail safety initiative this year.
Bradford stars-in-waiting, New York Alcoholic Anxiety Attack, will be special guests at the event, which is being backed by global music giant EMI and fellow West Yorkshire indie-rockers Kaiser Chiefs.
The project comes just weeks after Bradford teenager, Darren Anthony Baker, was killed after being hit by a train near Wyke Tunnel.
Chris Leech, Northern Rail's youth and community liaison manager, said: "Railway's play a huge part in supporting Bradford's local communities, but they also pose great dangers to young people who mess around on the tracks.
"There has unfortunately been a national increase in the number of over-16s who have suffered injuries and fatalities due to trespassing on railways.
"NorthernTraX aims to engage with young people over the age of 16, with the message that the railway is a dangerous place to be messing around and to be taking shortcuts after a night out.
"NorthernTraX's connection with the music industry and the prizes on offer are fantastic for aspiring musicians, but this campaign ultimately aims to highlight the dangers of railways and importance of rail safety."
The scheme encourages youngsters to make music and not be enticed onto railways.
Budding musicians can upload their tracks to www.northerntrax.net where fans can listen to them and download them for free. The top 20 downloaded bands will be then put forward for the critical ears of music industry professionals, including pop guru Pete Waterman.
The winner will even have their track professionally recorded and engineered.
NortherTraX 2007 will be launched at the first- ever rock concert at the National Rail Museum, York, tomorrow. The performance will start at 6.45pm and end at about 10pm.
Joining NYAAA will be last years NorthernTraX winners, The Humour, from Wakefield, who are currently in contract negotiations with major record labels.
A spokesman for the band said: "Winning NorthernTraX last year opened up lots of doors for the band. EMI has given us a full-time manager to help us develop our sound and grow our fan base, and we've recorded our first single, Momentary Moment, which we'll be releasing later this year.
Mr Waterman said: "I'm passionate about championing new talent and can't wait to hear the tracks."
Tickets for the launch event cost £3 and are on sale by calling Nina Baptiste on (01904) 686283 or e-mail nina.baptiste@nrm.org.uk.
