A building site manager from Ingrow has raised more than £3,000 for Manorlands by running the London Marathon.
Danny Walsh, 43, took part in the event for the second time last month and completed the course in three hours 13 minutes. "I knocked nearly an hour off my earlier time," he said.
"It went really well, though I was a bit disappointed because I thought I could have done even better. I lost about four minutes at the start because the crowd slowed me down and I'd done too much training the week before so I was feeling a bit stiff."
Mr Walsh, who works for HBG Construction, intends to take part in the marathon again next year and wants to complete it in under three hours.
Because he finished it so quickly this time round, he has automatically qualified to participate in the next run.
