Police have met with highways officers, MPs and councillors to see what can be done to stop motorists committing illegal manoeuvres in the centre of Otley.
Inspector Simon Hepworth, MP Greg Mulholland, Leeds City Council Highways officers and Councillor Ryk Downes met at the Westgate Manor Square, Market Place and Kirkgate junction.
Highways officers have now agreed to draw up a list of possible solutions with costs.
Mr Mulholland, who organised the event, said: "It was a productive meeting. I made it clear to them that we have to have a solution to this problem, which poses a real danger to people and I think that message got across loud and clear."
