An Otley family mourning the sudden loss of their teenage son is asking everyone who knew him to "remember the good times".

Fifteen year old Prince Henry's Grammar School pupil Jaspal Chahal, better known as Jappa, collapsed of a brain haemorrhage on Monday, May 7, and died three days later in Leeds General Infirmary.

His parents, Daljit and Suki Singh who run Wrenbeck News on Wrenbeck Drive, had no idea anything was wrong with their son and were told by doctors he probably had an undetected brain condition.

Mrs Singh said the family had been inundated with messages of condolence and support.

She said: "There was no sign at all this was coming. The doctor said it was probably a weakness he had in his brain but there was no machine in the world that would ever pick it up.

"He was a very outgoing lad, I can't believe how many people knew him. We're getting letters and lots of lovely cards from everyone."

A large contingent from Prince Henry's are expected at Jaspal's funeral, which takes place at Scholemore Cemetery in Bradford on Thursday.

A book of remembrance has been opened at the school.
