Silsden town councillors will debate the issue of closed-circuit television cameras for the town at their next meeting.
Members questioned why Bradford Council had not responded to their request to receive a copy of its policies regarding CCTV.
District councillor Andrew Mallinson said Bradford Council had not responded because there was no strategy or policy in place.
He said setting up CCTV was dependent on extended funding coming in and partnership working with different organisations.
Coun Mallinson said that if the town council could put in £10,000 and the former business watch funds of £6,000, then Bradford Council would match the £10,000 and invest in the upkeep.
The clerk agreed to put the issue on the next agenda.
