There are estimated to be 15 million old mobile phones sitting in drawers at home and work across the UK.

If you have one, instead of letting it gather dust, recycle it. Not only will this reduce the amount of landfill waste, it cuts the amount of raw materials needed to produce new products and it ensures that the mobile phone is disposed of safely.

What's more if you send it to one of the many charities that collect them, your phone will help raise funds for a good cause.

All you have to do is remove the sim card and look out for a charity envelope or check with your district council to see if you can take it along with the charger, battery and any accessories to your nearest recycling centre.
