Firefighters from Skipton were called out to a kitchen fire at a house in Skipton this morning.
The occupant of the semi-detached property on Regent Drive, which did not have a smoke alarm, had accidentally dropped a match in a drawer.
A glass of water had been used by the occupant to put out the flames before the fire crew arrived at around 7.10am.
The kitchen worktops sustained a small amount of damage and the house suffered smoke damage.
Firefighters spent 20 minutes at the scene and fitted a fire alarm.
