Women using a new community project launched by a Bradford school are preparing for an international cultural festival.
The community initiative, set up by St Joseph's School in Clayton following a £9,260 Awards for All grant from the Big Lottery fund, includes an international women's sewing class.
Members include Indian, Pakistani, Irish, Iraqi and African women. They are currently working on garments to be worn at a fashion show being held as part of an international cultural festival planned for Saturday, July 7.
"The women are working with a designer who's teaching them to cut patterns and make personalised clothing," said community development manager Barbara Peace.
"They are learning a lot from each other about their different cultures. They bring food that they've cooked along to the class, and they'll be doing cookery demonstrations at the festival.
"There will also be performances by an African choir. It will be a wonderful celebration of the diverse cultures of people using the community classes."
