A former pub licensee who crossed the English Channel to raise money for sick children is hoping to bring his willing helpers together for a reunion - 32 years after their amazing feat.
In 1975 Joe Marshall, who was licensee of the Army and Navy Inn in Barkerend Road, Bradford, launched the record-breaking attempt to cross the challenge in a 12-oared boat, which had never previously been achieved.
More than 30 rowers took part in the double crossing on May 14 and 15, 1975, raising £1,000 for the Bradford Children's Hospital.
Mr Marshall, 68, of Hillside Terrace, Barkerend, said: "We have already had a couple of reunions, but I would just like to step them up a bit as our numbers dwindle.
"We already have about half of the rowers on board for this reunion but we would like to get as many of them as possible to come and have a drink with us and share some of the memories."
The event will start at about 8pm on Friday at the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes club, formerly the Airedale pub in Otley Road, Bradford.
Anyone wanting information about the reunion should contact Mr Marshall on 07854 209107.
