Talk of pre-arranged meetings between rival football fans intent on trouble failed to materialise on Saturday.
Police mounted a large operation before Bradford City's final League One match against Millwall, with police vans and cars situated at various places around the city centre.
The police video van was in Centenary Square three hours before kick-off, while another was positioned outside the Queen, in Bridge Street.
The police helicopter also flew overhead to monitor the situation.
But officers confirmed the day had passed by without any major football-related disturbances.
PC Bryn Stokes, carrying out his last operation as Bradford's football liaison officer before moving to Leeds, said: "The day went very smoothly for us. Also, a big thank you to David Wetherall (Bradford's caretaker manager) for telling the fans to get off the pitch."
Inspector Howard Buckley, of Bradford North Police, said: "There was talk of organised meetings but it failed to materialise."
