A century-old manufacturer is moving to new premises in Bradford to cope with increasing demand.

Bradford Cylinders is leaving its factory on Allerton Road, where it has been based for more than 100 years, and is relocating to Norwood Green, near Wyke.

Managing director David Stocks said: "The relocation is a hugely significant moment in the company's history.

"These are exciting times for Bradford Cylinders as our new premises will provide us with the ideal platform for further developing the business in line with increasing industry demands."

The company specialises in manufacturing and designing hydraulic cylinders and associated products.

It is a world leader in the field of high-pressure vessels and has produced equipment for steel rolling mills, bridges, dock gates and a maintenance life system for Hovercraft.

All of the company's 50 staff will relocate to the new premises with the old Allerton Road site set to be re-developed into flats by developers McDermott Developments.

The luxury apartment complex is expected to be renamed Bullroyd Mews.

Bradford Cylinders was advised on the sale by another long-standing Bradford firm, Gordons.

The respected law firm also helped strike a deal with Bradford Council to help obtain planning permission for future development of the site.

Paul Young, commercial property partner at Gordons, said: "We are very pleased to have been able to work with them to achieve their objectives in relation to the site at the Soho Works, and look forward to seeing it play a significant part in the regeneration of the area."
