A RARE regimental flag has been presented to veterans of an Army regiment at a special ceremony at Bradford City Hall.
The Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Joanne Dodds, presented the flag of the Prince of Wales’s Own Regiment of Yorkshire to members of its Association at a special ceremony.
The ceremony was attended by soldiers of The Yorkshire Regiment, standard bearers, former officers and veterans from the regiment.
The flag was originally made for a Freedom of the City march for the newly-formed Prince of Wales’s Own Regiment of Yorkshire, which took place in Bradford in 1958.
Formed in Dover in 1958, the Prince of Wales’s Own was an amalgamation of the 14th of Foot, West Yorkshire Regiment and the 15th of Foot, East Yorkshire Regiment.
The flag is believed to be one of about four in existence and will be used as a funeral flag by the Prince of Wales’s Own Regimental Association to honour members who have died.
