A CYCLIST suffered a broken neck in a rush-hour crash in Shipley last night.

The 36-year-old man was in a collision with a Ford Focus at about 5.50pm in Wrose Road at the junction with Carr Lane.

Police said the driver of the Ford Focus, a 30-year-old Shipley man, was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving. He has been released on bail while police continue their inquiries.

The cyclist, also of Shipley, was today in a stable condition at Bradford Royal Infirmary, said a police spokesman. He also suffered a broken wrist and bruising. Police said his injuries were not life-threatening.

A spokesman for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service said it sent an ambulance and a rapid response vehicle to the scene and took a patient to hospital.

Wrose Road was closed until 9.50pm while police carried out investigations at the scene.
