HUNDREDS of people from different groups paraded through the streets of Otley for the town’s 32nd annual carnival.
Primary schools, scout troops and community groups crafted a variety of different themed floats for yesterday's parade, meaning clowns rubbed shoulders with time lords. The event is one of the biggest in the town’s calendar, and organisers said this year’s was just as popular as previous years, despite slightly mixed weather over the weekend.
Winning the contest for best float was the Otley Parish Scout Group, who went with a Doctor Who theme. A giant Dalek had spectators fearing extermination, and scouts dressed up as various incarnations of The Doctor, with one even becoming a Tardis.
Pirates, zombies and circus folk also took to the streets to celebrate.
After the parade families enjoyed a funfair, stalls music and the crowning of the Carnival Queen Olivia Driver.
Samantha Roberts, on the carnival committee, said: “There was a really good turnout and a great atmosphere. The parade had a really high standard of entries.”
