PEOPLE who saddled up to get to work on their bikes were rewarded with a free breakfast by Bradford Council.

The Pavilion in City Park dished out teas, coffees and juices with fruit, toast and pastries so the hungry cyclist commuters could refuel before heading to their workplaces.

A spokesman for the cafe thanked the steady stream of cyclists who had popped in, adding that some had ridden quite a distance.

The popular giveaway was to mark Bike Week 2015 which aims to get people swapping public transport for peddle power.

The annual campaign week promotes cycling and shows how it can easily be part of everyday life, as well as healthy, sociable and fun.

This year's event runs until Sunday and has a special focus on encouraging people to use their bikes to cycle to work.

Meanwhile, cycling fans can also take part in a free 12-MILE free guided bike ride in Brighouse on Sunday, June 28, as part of the Sky Ride Local campaign.

The waterways and woodlands ride starts from Daisy Street car park in the town centre at 10am, and heads along the canal to Sowerby Bridge.
