TRAFFIC officers from West Yorkshire Police have been out in force on Great Horton Road, with one arrest and numerous tickets issued.
The man was arrested for driving an overweight Ford Transit van. The vehicle was taken to Bowling Back Lane to be weighed, where it was found to be 520kg overweight. There was also no insurance for the van. The man was fined £200 for the excess weight, £300 for no insurance, as well as getting six penalty points, and told to pay £150 to get the vehicle back after it was seized.
Another vehicle was seized for no driving license, no insurance and no MOT certificate.
Five fixed penalty tickets were issued to drivers for not wearing seat belts, one for having tinted windows, three for parking on zig zag markings, three for speeding on Hollingwood Lane and one for driving while on a mobile phone.
The "proactive policing" took place on Wednesday.
