AMERICAN Independence Day is the theme of the second Baildon Proms on Saturday, July 4, and is set to be a sell-out says is organiser.
Loraine Radcliffe, who manages Bradford Lord Mayor's office, was at Ilkley Proms one year when she got the idea of putting on a similar event in her home town.
"I thought I bet I could that and booked the Ian Clough car park last summer.
"We're only allowed 500 seats at tables and managed to sell 460 for that event which coincided with the Tour de France Grand Depart.
"It was a great night with people standing around the outside and even on the roundabout all joining in the fun and singing along.
"And this year it looks like being a sell out," Mrs Radcliffe said.
Monies raised all go to local causes with £500 given to St John's Church, £600 to Marie Curie Cancer Care and a Baildon elderly people's group treated to a Christmas dinner.
Mrs Radcliffe set up Potted Meat Stick Community Enterprises, named after the town's famous memorial and which will present the proms from 6.30pm to 10pm in the Ian Clough car park. There will be music from The Hammonds, a band from Saltaire band, Joanne Dexter, soprano, David Wilson, Motown singer, the Wild Geese, Irish band and steel band Caribbean Breeze.
