A FORMER MP is urging people to contact him if they witnessed malpractice in last month's General Election.

Liberal Democrat David Ward, who lost his seat in Bradford East, said he had heard "anecdotal" accounts of alleged postal vote fraud and multiple voting, and was now setting up a group committed to cleaning up Bradford politics.

He said: "I personally experienced low-level incidents of attempted intimidation but have also received from others accounts of intimidation before and on Polling Day plus postal vote fraud and multiple voting.

"Other evidence from readers would be welcome. I would also welcome information about the production and distribution of leaflets accusing me of hating Muslims – a vile and absurd allegation in the light of my work with and for that community in over 30 years of public life.

"The leaflets could be illegal under S106 of the Representation of the People Act 1983 and no doubt for this reason those responsible for the leaflets failed to identify themselves."

Mr Ward said anyone with information about the leaflets, or examples of electoral malpractice, could contact him on 07807 256970.

Both Bradford Council, which ran the elections locally, and West Yorkshire Police, have previously said they would look into any complaints Mr Ward submitted to them.
