STAFF from Carers’ Resource have been at the University of Bradford today to spread the word about support on offer for staff and students who look after a loved one.
To mark Carers Week, and as part of a new partnership with the university’s human resources department, a team from Bradford’s integrated carers service was on campus to raise awareness about the range of support it offers to unpaid carers.
The Shipley-based charity is supporting the University’s Sustain programme which encourages employees and students to look after themselves, and to make the most of support on offer to help them stay healthy.
Carers’ Resource Bradford Service Manager Stella Elson said: “It’s important that carers are recognised so they can be supported in their work and education so they can have a positive experience of caring while also being able to flourish in their job or studies.
“Caring for a loved one can be a demanding and exhausting role and just having someone to offload to can be a huge help, never mind the variety of solutions we offer.”
HR Director at the University of Bradford Joanne Marshall also visited the Carers’ Resource stand in the atrium to thank Carers’ Resource for joining the university’s wellbeing programme.
It is hoped the new working partnership will lead to carers ambassadors being established on campus to offer help and a listening ear to fellow carers.
