POLICE are looking for householders to set up Neighbourhood Watches on the Bradford streets where they live.
Neighbourhood Watch is the largest, and fastest growing, self-help crime prevention initiative in the country. It does not involve a lot of work but, is not time consuming and can be an effective way of keeping crime down in the area and a good way of getting to know neighbours and improving community spirit.
The police give guidance throughout the set-up and provide street signs and window stickers for each household that joins. A Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator receives crime statistics for the area and other useful information. Some insurance companies give a small discount on house insurance if you belong to a Neighbourhood Watch.
