A BRADFORD man is compiling a list of music acts who have played in the city and at Live Aid - as the 30th anniversary of the event approaches.

John Murphy wants people to help him put together a who's who of famous names that link the two, and help make Bradford feel a part of musical history.

"Many of the artists or bands who played on the day have played in Bradford," said Mr Murphy. "Wouldn't it be nice to list how many and make Bradford really feel part of musical history? I am still trying to confirm if Nik Kershaw, Howard Jones or Simple Minds appeared in our city?

"Eric Clapton did play Halifax, and Sting played Leeds with The Police. I believe Duran Duran may have missed Bradford as the power of video at that time propelled them straight to the big arenas."

He added: "It is so easy to allow pomposity to cloud history. The calibre of acts that played doesn't matter to me, just the fact they did grace each gig."

Live Aid took place on July 13, 1985, in London and Philadelphia.

Mr Murphy's list so far includes David Bowie, Kiki Dee, Elton John, Adam Ant, Robert Plant, Dire Straits, Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.
