THE M62 was reopened in both directions today - more than 22 hours after a lorry crashed through the central reservation.
Both east and westbound stretches of the motorway re-opened at 5am.
Highways England said the incident, which happened at about 8.15am yesterday on the eastbound carriageway between junctions 21 at Milnrow and 22 at Saddleworth.
The lorry, which was carrying butter, collided with vehicles travelling in the opposite direction.
The 37-year-old driver was airlifted to hospital and remains in a critical condition.
Vehicles repair work continued on the stretch of motorway overnight on Monday.
