BUILDING society members’ small change has made a big difference to a community centre in Bradford.

The Sedbergh Youth and Community Centre has been able to buy new sensory equipment thanks to a £1,781 donation from Yorkshire Building Society (YBS) Charitable Foundation.

The Charitable Foundation is funded by the Small Change, Big Difference scheme where members donate the annual pennies from their interest to assist smaller charities and good causes around the UK.

The donation has allowed Sedbergh Youth and Community Centre to buy an interactive hopscotch pad and a ripple mat.

Lucy Carter, of Sedbergh Youth and Community Centre, said: “We have a basic sensory room but without this donation we would’ve have been able to afford these expensive pieces of equipment.

“The hopscotch pad is an interactive, musical light game and the ripple mat provides visual stimulation as well as being tactile."

Sedbergh Youth and Community Centre was nominated for the donation by Linda Neal, a Resource Analyst at YBS's head office at Yorkshire Drive.

She said: “My daughter volunteers at the centre so I know first-hand what an amazing job the staff and volunteers do. I’m delighted that our members’ donations have been put to helping such a worthwhile cause."
