A WOMAN who stole money at a community centre has been sent to prison for 12 weeks.
Claire Wright, of Owlet Grange, Shipley, had pleaded guilty at a previous hearing of Bradford and Keighley Magistrates Court which was adjourned until yesterday for a probation report and sentencing.
Magistrates heard how mother-of-one Wright, 37, had been for a coffee at Kirkgate Community Centre in Shipley with her friend on November 16 last year when she had seen a money bucket and £7.50 was stolen from it.
The court heard how Wright, who was already on a community order, has been struggling with drugs and suffered bereavement after her partner died, she also mixed with people who were on drugs.
Shiraz Hussain, mitigating, told magistrates there were elements of the probation report his client did not accept.
After Wright was sentenced, Mr Hussain said he would be appealing and asked magistrates to put his client on bail until that appeal could get a date.
His request was refused.
