A SERIES of free guided bike rides around the Bradford district starts tomorrow as part of a national campaign to get more people cycling for fun.
The Sky Ride Local campaign, run by British Cycling and Sky, in partnership with Bradford Council, offers cyclists different routes to try over the summer.
The rides are guided by British Cycling leaders along scenic local routes, and pitched at three different levels, with different themes from wildlife and wilderness to city streets and park life.
The first, Aire Valley Breeze, starts today at 10am and runs an eight mile route from Bingley through Riddlesden and Sandbeds and out to Keighley.
British Cycling’s Director of Recreation and Partnerships Stewart Kellett said: "What better way to get some exercise, get outdoors and see your area in a new way than to join some of the themed Sky Ride Local bike rides taking place in and around Bradford this summer?
"There’s no time like the present to get your bike out."
Councillor Imran Khan, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Environment and Sport, said: "Cycling is becoming ever more popular in the Bradford district and these Sky Ride Local rides are the ideal way of trying out lots of different routes and meeting new people."
