A FIVE-year-old will join his parents in climbing up one of the UK's biggest mountains to raise money for devastated communities in Nepal.
Despite his age, Archie Hackett has already climbed Ingleborough, Buckden Pike and Pen-Y-Ghent in the Yorkshire Dales this year. Next Saturday he will tackle the 1,085 meter high Snowdon along with parents Pat and Julie, and hopes to raise as much as possible for the Health Exchange Nepal Earthquake Fund. He was struck by the plight of the people of Nepal, which was recently hit by two devastating earthquakes.
He has already raised over £460 in sponsorship money for the walk.
Archie, who is a pupil at St John The Evangelist school in Wibsey, was particularly effected by news of the devastation as his dad is a keen walker who has been to Nepal several times.
Mr Hackett said: "I've always been into walking and I encouraged him to get into it. We're going up the minors' track which is a bit more straight forward as he's only little. But the walk will still be about eight hours.
"I was going to do something to raise money, and after the second earthquake hit I asked if he wanted to do something to help.
"If he could raise £1,000 for it that would be brilliant."
