CURRENT and former members of the Bradford Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) group are meeting in the city centre on Saturday to celebrate its 40th anniversary.
Organisers are hoping as many original members of the group as possible will congregate at Jacobs Beer House, in Kent Street, from 2pm.
Saltaire Brewery is supplying a special beer for the occasion, available from wood, metal, and plastic casks.
Former chairman of the group, David Boothroyd, said: “As the West Yorkshire branch of the campaign for Real Ale split up into separate branches, which dealt with each of the then-new metropolitan areas, what was left in 1975 was effectively the Bradford branch.
“That is why we are celebrating the occasion with a series of events throughout the year.
“All members are invited on Saturday, and the expected lively afternoon should be both enjoyable and enlightening.”
Mr Boothroyd stood down from his role of chairman of the Bradford CAMRA group last month after three years at the helm, being replaced by current acting chairman Brian Mitchell.
