A FIRE involving 60 tonnes of rubber, woodchip and tyres on the outskirts of Halifax has led to a plume of smoke that could be seen as far as Queensbury.
At 4.20pm West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service were informed of a fire at a reclamation plant on Swalesmoor Road, and four engines were sent to deal with the blaze.
On arrival they found the pile of materials on fire and are tacking it with two large hose jets and two ground monitors.
The thick, black smoke generated by the blaze could be seen around Halifax and Queensbury.
A fire service spokesman said: "There are no reports of any danger to the public at this stage."
