MUMS at Eldwick Primary School, Bingley, are swapping the school run for a muddy obstacle race to raise cash for a leading cancer charity.

Nine women with children at the school in Barnaby Road will be completing in the five kilometre Race for Life called Pretty Mudder this Saturday at Temple Newsam, Leeds.

Organiser Catherine Holden said the idea to take part in the Cancer Research UK event was a gesture of support for a local woman who is receiving treatment for cancer.

"When we all signed up to do the event we had no idea of the amazing and generous support from our friends, families and school," said Mrs Holden, who has two children at Eldwick Primary.

"So far we have smashed two fundraising targets - our fundraising currently stands at £800 - with more donations expected so we hope to get more than £1,000."

"There's gong to be plenty of mud on Saturday, some big pink obstacles and our families have made banners and will be cheering us along."
