FAMILIES enjoyed a free cultural spring event at Myra Shay grounds yesterday as part of their half-term fun.
The activity-filled event celebrating the area's diversity was backed by Better Start Bradford, the Lottery, The Anchor Project and Bradford Council to bring the community together.
Live music and entertainment including a performance by the Congolese Choir, an organ player and Eastern European and Tabla musicians was just some of what was on offer to the crowd. Other musicians included Dennis Dibb with his pipe organ called Yorkshire Lass and Doll Drum player Martin Bhatoa and student player Sufyaan Rehman.
Other attractions at the event next to Sure Start Barkerend, off Barkerend Road included sports, games and competitions with outdoor activities organised by the Forest Schools and thee was baby massage.
A bouncy castle and playdough fun kept little ones busy and happy as well as there being refreshments, henna painting and face painting.
Spong Tree Community arts project was also there running a hands-on project encouraging youngsters to have ago at making their own leaf-decorated headbands.
