A BRADFORD cycling organisation is offering a free check-up for bikes as part of a national scheme.
Cycle-Re-Recycle, based in Westholme Street, off Thornton Road, is running a Dr Bike service during the national Bike Bike Revival scheme. This is a fortnight of family-friendly events aimed at getting people cycling this summer.
It is designed to help people get their unloved bike back into use, learn how to look after it themselves, and rediscover the fun of cycling.
Riders can drop off their old bikes at the Bradford shop and a team of staff and volunteers will give it an M.O.T-style once over.
The team go through a checklist of all parts of the bike and give each rider an inspection report.
Chris Evans, chairman of Cycle-Re-Cycle in Bradford, said: "Lots of people leave their bikes in the garage over the winter, or for longer, and when they come to use them again in the summer they sometimes need some repairs.
"It's an M.O.T for a bike to make sure they are safe and work properly.
"People can also bring in their old bikes to donate to us.
"Last year we recycled 835 bikes."
The free service will be available on selected dates up until June 6.
