CHILDREN are being asked to give their views about how a play area should be improved.
The improvements to the Yeadon play park are to be made using money from a developer following a campaign by councillors.
Yeadon Liberal Democrat councillors Sandy Lay, Ryk Downes and Colin Campbell have welcomed council plans to improve the play area at Tarnfield Park.
Now they want to hear the views of residents - particularly children - with a consultation due to start in June.
Councillor Lay said: "Residents have told us that they thought the park was tired and not really 'fit for purpose' and we have been keen to help improve it. Now some funding has been found we would urge everyone that takes their children to play in Tarnfield Park to get involved.
"We especially want to hear from the children who will be playing there – we want the park to be somewhere they really want to come and use."
Councillor Downes said: "I've been working on this scheme with my colleagues to find funding and fulfil residents' wishes for a while now so I'm really pleased consultation is underway.
"Forms can be downloaded and submitted online from https://consult.leeds.gov.uk once the consultation goes live in the next few days. They will also go to neighbouring houses and to children at Rufford Park Primary. This is a fantastic and easy way to get involved and make your voice heard."
Councillor Campbell added: "We’re pleased to bring a plan like this to Parks and Countryside, and that it’s been embraced with enthusiasm. It’s wonderful news for all residents who enjoy spending time in the park."
