ORGANISERS of an unusual art exhibition have been asking Bradfordians to look at their city in an entirely different light.
Canvas, at Fuse Art Space in Rawson Place, appears to be just an empty room with a desk, chair and telephone. When visitors sit at the desk and pick up the phone they are asked a number of questions by a mystery speaker, such as whether they are optimistic or pessimistic, before being given a task. This task will require them to leave the gallery and immerse themselves in the surroundings of the city, documenting their experience.
Some of the tasks have included following a bird around the city centre and adopting a new identity for 60 minutes to travel round the city.
Those involved then submit their finished experiences, whether by photo, poem, drawing or other piece of artwork, to the gallery.
Art students at Bradford College worked on their submissions to the project after speaking to the mysterious voice on the phone.
Ashley Marsden, 18, is doing a foundation art and design course, and was asked to draw a line in chalk from the city centre to his home.
He said: "It is really intriguing, it is not your typical art studio exhibition whatsoever."
