COLE Porter's sparkling musical High Society will bring some fizz and froth to Ilkley Playhouse next week.
The show, made into a classic musical film starring Grace Kelly, Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby, is about Tracy Lord, a glamorous socialite divorcee who is about to re-marry, to a wealthy and successful industrialist.
But when her ex, the charming Dexter, reappears at the party, Tracy begins to wonder whether life with steady George will be quite the ride she desires. High comedy ensues when reporters Mike and Liz arrive to cover the wedding and are distracted by Tracy and her little sister Dinah, who treat them to an eccentric song and dance number. But with Tracy now falling for Mike, the audience will be left wondering which of the suitors she will meet at the altar.
* High Society runs at Ilkley Playhouse from June 1 - 13. For tickets call (01943) 609539 or visit ilkleyplayhouse.co.uk
