POLITICIANS have been invited to Keighley Festival to sing in a boy band.
Festival chairman Malcolm Hanson (pictured) has challenged councillors to form a group to perform this summer.
The group – with female as well as male councillors – would make its debut on Church Green during the festival’s 1940s day on July 11.
The combo, entitled The Singing Councillors, would boost fundraising for armed forces charity SSAFA.
Mr Hanson said: “Councillors shouldn’t be shy. They will only need to learn four songs for a 20-minute performance with a repeat later in the afternoon.
“It’s a fun thing, in fact, the worse they are the more fun it will be!”
Mr Hanson has already press-ganged two councillors to join up, and he hopes to attract up to six more.
Keighley Festival runs from July 6 to 11, and anyone who wishes to take part should email malcolm.b.hanson@gmail.com or call Mr Hanson on 01756 798730.
