A BINGLEY school will take on the country's best young legal eagles next month in the national finals of a mock trials competition.
Beckfoot School in Wagon Lane, beat off competition from four other schools, including Belle Vue Girls' School, in Thorn Lane, Heaton, at the North Eastern England regional heat.
This event was held at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court.
The schools played witnesses, lawyers, magistrates and court officials at the competition. They were marked by residing magistrates' judges in Bradford, Leeds and Doncaster.
Now the Beckfoot team will take on nine schools from across the country at the national finals, to be held at the Victoria Law Courts in Birmingham on Saturday, June 6.
The competition, run by the Citizenship Foundation in partnership with the Magistrates' Association, is open to 12 and 14-year-olds.
