BRADFORD will officially get a new Lord Mayor today.
Councillor Joanne Dodds is to take on the ceremonial role from outgoing Lord Mayor, Councillor Mike Gibbons.
She will be formally installed at the annual Mayor-making ceremony which will take place at City Hall at 10.30am.
Cllr Dodds will also officially start her Lord Mayor’s Appeal and reveal the charities she has chosen to support in her year in office.
Her husband, Robert, will be her consort for the year.
Cllr Dodds was born in East Bierley and brought up in Bradford. She has been a councillor for the Great Horton ward since 2006.
She also volunteers as a ‘Street Angel’ in Bradford city centre, giving her an insight into the lives of homeless people as well as the dangers of drinking too much alcohol.
She attends the Cornerstone Church, formerly Great Horton Methodists, where she is a trustee and a member of the church council.
The Deputy Lord Mayor and consort will be Cllr Abid Hussain and his wife Shahnaz Akhtar.
