A CATHOLIC primary school plans to refurbish its entrance to make it more disabled friendly.
Sacred Heart Primary School, on Valley Road in Ilkley, has applied to Bradford Council for permission for a new main entrance to the school, including ramped access and overhead canopy, and internal remodelling works.
The school's application says: "The existing entrance lobby provides for an ‘internal’ lobby that is crowded and segregates two areas of the existing layout to the inconvenience of the user. Visitors can currently access the site and building with minimum security which presents an obvious risk to the children and staff."
The application says the main entrance (pictured) is accessed by stairs which poses a "discriminatory issue".
The internal works will include remodelling of the staffroom and offices with a new disabled toilet area.
