A DRUNK driver claimed he had downed three large vodkas in a little more than a minute between arriving at his house and police who had followed him knocking on his door, a court was told.
Robert Palfreyman, 22, of Skipton Road, Farnhill, was found guilty of drink driving by Skipton magistrates who rejected his claim.
They told Palfreyman there had been variations in his evidence and that it had been at odds with the accounts of police officers.
He was banned from driving for 14 months, fined £380 with £620 prosecution costs and a £38 surcharge.
Prosecutor Hilary Reece told the court Palfreyman had been followed home by police at about 9pm on December 12 last year after he had been seen performing a 360 degree "doughnut" manoeuvre in Cononley Mills car park.
A blood test was later found to contain 101 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80.
