PRIMARY school pupils in Bradford donned bow ties and sequins to take part in a ballroom dancing competition as part of an innovative scheme that gives youngsters the chance to try out new activities.
The Accelerate Ballroom Dancing Competition Final saw more than 120 pupils from four primary schools take to the floor at Tong High School, with students from the secondary school helping to host the event.
After local heats in December and March, the primary schools which reached the finals were Hill Top, Lower Fields, Birkenshaw, and Ryecroft.
The pupils took part in four dances in the finals - the Jive, Waltz, Cha Cha Cha, and Tango - before joining together in a Rock Barn Dance to round off the evening.
Birkenshaw emerged as winners of the competition, with Ryecroft as runners-up, Hill Top in third, and Lower Fields in fourth.
The schools worked with local choreographer, Rebecca Cook, to prepare for the eagerly-anticipated finals, which also featured a staff competition, won by a partnership between Birkenshaw and Lower Fields.
