A PENSIONER has told of her shock after a lorry crashed into her house in Queensbury.
Robina Allan said she was terrified when she heard an "enormous bang" at the side of her property in Park View, off Albert Road.
The 72-year-old rushed to the front of the house and saw the truck.
Mrs Allan, who has lived in the house for 51 years, said the lorry driver briefly slowed down before driving off.
She and a ward councillor are now calling for safety work to be carried out to try to prevent further accidents.
"He [lorry the driver] has hit our porch roof and taken the bottom row of tiles off and the guttering," said Mrs Allan.
"He hit the house wall as well and took a chunk out of the wall. He would definitely know he had hit the house.
"I couldn't see his registration number, unfortunately."
She added: "If I had not been in, we would not have known who had done it."
Mrs Allan, who lives with her husband Peter said the incident happened at 10.30am last Saturday, just as she had finished listening to a radio show.
"I was terrified," she said. "I could not stop shaking - I really was frightened."
Mrs Allan said there was no pavement outside the house, but that there was a white line designed to guide vehicles past.
"We need something doing," she said. "We need some sort of protection.
"People walk their children past the front of our house and have to walk on the road."
It is not the first time a vehicle has hit Mrs Allan's house.
Last December, in bad weather, a car crashed into it.
Councillor Michael Walls (Con, Queensbury) said: "There is no pavement here so it seems we need to do something to stop this happening again.
"There needs to be some sort of physical barrier there.
"I shall be keeping a close watch on it to make sure something gets sorted out."
He added: "She heard a hell of a bang. It had got too close and went merrily on its way.
"Police need to get on with it because it is a fail to stop."
A police spokesman said: "Police have been made aware of the incident and are investigating.
"It got reported at 10.39am on Saturday. It was a report of damage to a property. A vehicle has hit the roof of a porch, damaging the roof and tiles."
