THE Bradford star of Channel 4's new cop drama No Offence is going to get muddy in memory of her brave aunt.

Charlie Clark will be spending her 21st birthday, on May 30, joining hundreds of other women raising money for Cancer Research UK.

The actress, who plays the role of victim Cathy Calvert in the eight-part series written by Shameless writer Paul Abbot, will be taking part in the charity's 5km Pretty Muddy course at Temple Newsam, Leeds.

She is hoping her training will pay off and get her over and through all the obstacles on the day and that viewers of the show will donate.

Charlie hopes her team, made-up of aunt Andrea Rhodes, 42, and 13-year-old cousin Mollie Burrows, will raise hundreds of pounds to help find a cure for cancer.

Mum-of-four and step-mum of three, Marie Burman of West Bowling, died on April 8 aged just 33. She had only been married three months when she was diagnosed with cervical cancer after she had been referred to hospital following a routine smear test.

Despite bouts of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, the cancer eventually spread to other parts of her body leaving her in a wheelchair and unable to speak.

When she was given only weeks left to live, her family asked what she wanted to do with the time she had left. She said she wanted to be at her own wake. Sadly she died before it could happen.

Ms Clark said her aunt was an inspiration.

"When she was first diagnosed she was so positive she was not going to let it beat her. She was determined to have as good a time as she could. She had this year's New Year's Eve party at her house.

"Even when things got tough and she was in pain she never said no, she was still doing things for other people and wanting everyone else to be okay.

"She was devoted to her family. She was an inspiration."

The actress said she would be thinking about her auntie a lot on her way round the Pretty Muddy course.

The second-part of No Offence will be shown at 9pm on Tuesday. It tells the story of an unorthodox mix of tough, but big-hearted, detectives who go above and beyond to bring down the criminal rabble in a crumbling cop-shop.

Ms Clark has already had roles in Brit flick Clubbed, ITV period drama Just Henry and in 2011 scooped the Most Promising Newcomer title at the Royal Television Society (RTS) Yorkshire Awards for her part in the gritty South Riding adaptation.
