A BRADFORD pub will step back in time for a musical fundraising event to mark the 70th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day.
The Ginger Goose stages an event on Sunday, which will include performances from a Dame Vera Lynn tribute act and a 1940s music crooner. The pub in Market Street will get into the swing of the era with the Jump ‘n’ Jive Swing Band.
All proceeds from the event, which runs from 3pm to 9pm, will go to The Royal British Legion.
Those who attend are also being encouraged to dress up in 1940s clothes. VE Day marked the end of the Second World War in Europe on May 8, 1945.
The Royal British Legion will join the nation in marking the 70th anniversary of VE Day, with events taking place across the country this weekend.
Ellen Boyle, Ginger Goose events manager, said: “It’s an opportunity to celebrate the tenacity of the people who went through the war.
“It’s an event for people to take pride in being British. It gives people a chance to remember the heroes.
It was a hard time but everybody pulled together.
It’s nice to keep these sort of events fresh in people’s minds. We are looking to get veterans down here and anyone who is interested in VE Day.”
