A CARE provider in Bradford rated inadequate after a Care Quality Commission inspection has “strongly disputed” the report’s findings.

Bingley-based Dignicare was found to be inadequate in four of the watchdog’s categories – safe, effective, responsive and well-led – and requiring improvement in the other, which is caring.

But a legal representative of Dignicare Limited said: “Dignicare Limited strongly disputes the contents of the inspection report published by the CQC and has taken steps to formally challenge the validity of that report and the judgements made therein.

“This challenge relates to the inaccuracy of facts reported by the inspector undertaking the review.”

The report’s section on safety said: “The service was not safe. Eight people were on occasion left without support overnight for significantly longer than stated in their care assessments which increased the risk of harm.”

Malvern Nursing Home, in Heaton, was also rated inadequate in the latest round of CQC reports.

Debbie Westhead, CQC’s deputy chief inspector for adult social care in the north, said: “Whenever we find a service to be ‘inadequate’, we will consider taking further action on behalf of the people who use the service.”
