TWO parliamentary candidates for Bradford South have visited a primary school in the constituency to speak to pupils about the forthcoming general election.
Judith Cummins, who is standing for Labour, and Tanya Graham, who is standing for the Conservatives, fielded questions from year five pupils at Reevy Hill Primary School in Buttershaw on separate visits.
The talks was part of a class topic about what qualities a British leader needs, looking at democracy, traditional British values and diversity
The candidates were asked about such topics as education and and how they balanced family life with being a politician.
Key Stage 2 leader Vicki Ward said: "The children enjoyed beginning to understand politics from different perspectives. Our class is now going to have a mock election over the next week and a half and will be eagerly awaiting the results of the general and local elections."
Outgoing MP Gerry Sutcliffe has held the seat for Labour for more than 20 years and in 2010 held a majority of more than 4,500.
Other candidates standing in the constituency are: Andy Robinson for the Green Party, Jason Smith for UKIP, and Andrew Tear for the Liberal Democrats.
