A SPEEDWAY fan has teamed up with the Telegraph & Argus to create a special billboard for an exhibition.
John Murphy has created a display honouring the Odsal Stadium racing to be on show at Bradford Industrial Museum next month.
It will include a T&A billboard featuring the names of the 40 riders who have held the fastest time record over four laps.
Mr Murphy said: "It was traditional in speedway that the name of the rider holding the fastest time over four laps appeared, almost as a footnote, in the meeting programme. Beyond that, no other reference was made.
"Thanks to the invaluable help of the T&A and supporters who then responded to the appeal for information of every Odsal track record holder, the result is the names of 40 riders, embracing the full breadth of racing at Odsal from 1945 to 1997, many representing Bradford but a significant number of world champions and riders from every major speedway nation.
"There are many anecdotes to glean from this roll of honour - an illustration being that two sets of brothers appear, Jack and Norman Parker and Shawn and Kelly Moran. It is also fitting both Erik Gundersen and Per Jonsson held the track record, riders who won world titles at Odsal - indeed Erik broke the record in the 1985 final."
