AN ANNUAL extravaganza in aid of Manorlands takes place next weekend.
And organisers of the Bronte Vintage Gathering pledge it will be the biggest and best yet.
Since it was first staged 17 years ago, the event has raised over £310,000 for the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice.
But last year’s show had to be cancelled part way through when torrential rain turned the field into a quagmire.
“This year we’ve several new spectacular attractions and it promises to be a fantastic weekend,” said spokesman Trish Wood.
“We want to raise a bumper amount for Manorlands.”
Among those performing this year will be popular stuntman Jez Avery and the Chariots of Fire pony display team.
Other entertainment in the arena will include terrier racing, a dog agility display and SMJ Falconry.
Weather-permitting there will be an RAF flypast and demonstrations from Keighley Model Aircraft Club.
Also lined up are a zip wire, fairground rides, a bouncy castle and slides, Blackpool donkey rides, an Old Spot beer tent, craft marquee, trade stands, clay pigeon shooting and an auto jumble fair.
Exhibits on the showground – in Haworth Road, Cullingworth – will include classic cars, commercial and military vehicles, motorcycles stationary and miniature steam engines and tractors.
A collectors’ and machinery auction takes place at 5pm on Saturday, May 9, and donated goods will be auctioned off at 2pm on Sunday, May 10.
On Saturday night, there will be free live music from The Rhythm Junkies.
The event will run from 10am to 4pm both days.
Admission to the field will be £6 for adults and £4 for children up to 16, with under-fives admitted free. There is also a £15 family ticket, and concessions. Parking will be free.
