CHURCHGOERS have donated £400 to help fund a trip by Keighley school children to Lourdes.
Students of Holy Family School raised the money this month during collections at two local Roman Catholic churches.
Parishioners dug deep after services at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Haworth and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Silsden.
The money will boost fundraising by the students for this year’s school pilgrimage to Lourdes, in southern France, where pupils spend time at the holy site helping sick, elderly and disabled pilgrims.
The trip is planned for next month.
The students and their parents were invited to supper at the school last week for the traditional session to inform them what would be expected in Lourdes.
The young people, who began their fundraising on February 11, the feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes, practised handling wheelchairs during the supper event.
Holy Family School has sent students to Lourdes for 45 years .
