PART of Keighley town centre is being turned into a marketplace of enterprise and industry on Thursday, May 7.
Students from Keighley Campus Leeds City College are putting on a festival of entertainment and test-trading for the public, while showcasing the skills they have learned as part of their courses. The event runs from 10am to 4pm.
A spokesman for the college said: “About 150 students will be involved, from event management, stewards on duty to actual stall holders and performers.
“The aim of the festival is to develop enterprise and employability."o better prepare students for the world of work, giving them the opportunity to develop the skills required to achieve success, as well as confidence in their own abilities and self-worth.” Among the college departments which will display their work will be sports, hair and beauty, the food academy, the FabLab, electrical and joinery. Activities include laser cutting, mini manicures, baking and three dimensional printing.
The event was first launched in Leeds last year, when more than 200 students from various campuses from across the college’s six campuses in Leeds and Keighley participated.
